Dr Alice Simon, experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist, has 30 years of experience seeing people across the life span.
She specialises in working with complex difficulties that arise as a result of neurodivergence or challenging life experiences/trauma.
Dr Alice Simon says:
My approach is developmental, so I am happy to work with people of all ages.
I can offer diagnostic and cognitive assessments (Autism, ADHD).
I am qualified and experienced in completing cognitive, mental capacity and diagnostic assessments (including neurodevelopmental assessment).
Bespoke interventions are provided to address life challenges, informed by cognitive-behavioural, narrative and trauma-informed models.
I consider it important that psychological methods are accessible to all people, including those who may need significant adaptations to be able to engage in psychological support.
I like to work collaboratively with others and I can adapt my communication to the needs of others.
Aiming to improve parent-child relationships, I use Clinical Psychology therapeutic interventions, to parents and children.
(Interventions may include narrative therapy, complex PTSD interventions in line with guidance, play-based trauma interventions, Theraplay and an established framework for children adolescents and care giving systems.)
I work alongside, as an alternative to, or after Psychology assessment via family court proceedings.
Clinical Psychology interventions to address family contact difficulties including that recommended by the court as Psychology court-ordered interventions.
(Psychology either with or without the involvement of a social worker or a court guardian/children’s Guardian, appointed by the court involved).
I am open to working with full family systems or paid carers to improve psychological wellbeing.
Behavioural challenges associated with complex needs are also an area of specialist interest.
I can provide assessment, intervention and coaching in Behavioural challenges.

I can also offer specialist consultation and assessment regarding mental capacity, deprivation of liberty or residential placement needs.
Provides consultation and training to health, education and social care providers around the psychological needs of people with complex needs.
I have a reputation for being approachable and empathetic, yet also able to address complex issues in a structured and accountable way.
Dr Alice Simon has offered clinical supervision to many colleagues and trainees, both individually and in a group format. Hence, requests for clinical supervision are also considered.
Dr Alice Simon works part time at the University of Exeter and has previously worked as Senior Lecturer at De Montfort University Leicester.
Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society & Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
Dr Alice Simon has collaborated with the Nuffield Youth Justice Observatory on the Principles of care for children with complex needs, published in September 2023.
