My experience and training has led me to believe that trauma and shame are often at the root of psychological distress.
I am committed to helping you to explore your experiences with empathy and understanding within the context of your background and life history.

Spending time in nature, if/when you can, is often helpful as a way of getting a break from daily stressors. For example, when do you last visit your local countryside/local park/a nature reserve? If you are local to Holmfirth, when did you last visit upper park wood nature reserve?

Sharon is the first one that truly listened and helped me practically as well as emotionally. She got to know me so well that she’d pick up on how I was as soon as I said hello, she’d recognise from what I was saying I was speaking from my child part, she remembered what I’d said perhaps 5 sessions ago – as she was genuinely interested and cared.
She also championed me and helped me do the same for myself. She helped me unite my younger self with my adult self and gave me strategies to use for moments of crisis. …. I can’t say enough good things about her and I am so grateful I finally found her. Don’t even think about it, Sharon will change your life.”

We worked through past trauma and later she helped me navigate the first very hard months of motherhood. Thank you for everything, Sharon. I feel comfortable reaching out for a session whenever I get stuck in life!”

She has enabled me to pinpoint some pivotal moments in my childhood and adolescence, from which I cemented inaccurate beliefs about myself.
In living with these beliefs for so many years, I developed coping mechanisms that eventually became detrimental to my life. I thought I was set to live trapped within what had become a punishing mindset.
I can now look at these beliefs with a different perspective and I am able, for the first time ever, to rationalise them and adapt my thought processes and behaviours.
For the first time in my life, I have a growing sense of relief and calm settling into my mind and body.
I have spoken with Sharon about things I felt deeply ashamed about, and never thought I could tell anyone.
She has treated me with respect, empathy and compassion throughout what has been a very emotional path for me.
I feel that it really matters to Sharon, that as her client, I am discovering this sense of peace, and that I can both accept and own it.
Sharon has changed my life – without a doubt. I will forever be thankful to her” (from a previous client seen by Dr Sharon Harvey, before she joined our network).
Its been over a year since we last saw each other and things continue to improve in a slow and grounded way. I know……
All these positive things have happened since our sessions. I just wanted to thank you for helping me greatly along my road to recovery. I’ve still got a long way to go, but things are definitely improving. So thanks once again.”
